NOS WWII USMC P41 herringbone twill HBT utility 38 coat shirt 32 trousers pants

Here is a set of USMC HBT P41 utility coat and trousers. The uniform appears to be unused, new old stock despite having been issued. The trousers still have the sheen associated with fabric that has not been washed. The coat is a little less so. If the coat had been washed I would say it was only once because there is no fading or observable degradation to the USMC and EGA stenciling.

You can see that the coat is marked as a size 38 and the trousers as a size 32. Rosenbloom and is dated May of 1944.

The trousers were also made by S. Rosenbloom and are dated March 1944. The Marine's name has been written on the inside of the waistband and the word or name Loop is on a seam inside the coat.

There are no rips or holes in either article. Both pieces of clothing exhibit what in curator circles is referred to as foxing. The foxing or in layman's terms "staining" that you see is very typical of HBT uniforms and is the result of a large variety of factors such as moisture, microbial activity, iron content, pH levels, and UV exposure. Make no mistake, the foxing is present but is difficult to capture in photos.

Some areas are more visible than others. The heaviest area is largely on the backs of the legs along the creases. It is difficult to see in most lighting. If you are looking for a factory fresh, absolutely pristine, mint condition uniform then move along and be prepared to keep looking as it is very difficult to find WWII USMC uniforms without a spot or two somewhere. I will entertain all reasonable offers from serious collectors. You could spend years trying to find a perfect HBT uniform but this one is solid and would look great on a mannequin. Most sellers will not point out the types of defects that I have. As a collector myself, I hate surprises. Rest assured, this is an excellent condition set in good sizes.
