WWII US ARMY Wool Serge Dress Jacket Pants Shirt Patches 38L Staff Sgt ADSEC........... COLOR WAS HARD TO GET RIGHT, probably closest to the 2nd photo for the Dress Jacket. Vintage World War 2 Dress Jacket and 2 other Uniform pieces.
The jacket and pants are in great condition. The shirt has many FLAWS.
The pants have a label "W33 - L33" inside. I get a measurement of 34" for the waist, and Inseam of 33". The length of the pants from the top of the waist to the hem is approx. They have buttons for closure at the fly.All buttons on all items are attached. The items appear to have been Dry Cleaned periodically and kept under plastic in a closet.
The shirt's list of flaws are listed below in the "Condition". Nice period piece, but it has many repairs and patches.
The shirt has no labels or sizes listed. The shirt is 16 from shoulder to shoulder, and approx. 30.5 from the top shoulder seam to the hem.The Dress Jacket is in great condition, marked "38L" on the inside. 31 from the top of the shoulder to the hem. I couldn;t find anything wrong with it, other than some old rust stains on the inside pocket that can;t be seen unless you look inside the jacket. But it IS Wool, so I can't rule out that there may be a tiny hole that escaped my inspection.
All the buttons remain, it has an "Honorable Discharge Patch", and Staff Sergeant rank patches, and 5 Overseas bars on the lower left sleeve, signifying 2.5 years of overseas duty. There is an "ADSEC" patch on the left shoulder. ADSEC was activated in 1944, it stood for "The Advance Section, Communications Zone", in the European Theater of Operations, United States Army. It is commonly referred to as simply "ADSEC". Army logistical agency, the first on the Continent.
First Army, and gradually took over the Communications Zone activities. Interestingly, ADSEC provided detail planning for the invasion of Normandy, D-Day.
CONDITION The Dress jacket is in great condition, has been periodically dry cleaned and hung in closet. I couldn't find any damage other than old rust stains on the inside pocket pouch, which can only be seen on the inside. The pants are likewise, cleaned and kept stored. The only damage I could find on the pants are some faint rough areas on the bottom hems, no more than 1 long, where they probably dragged just the tiniest bit on the ground. All buttons attached, no holes found on those items.
The shirt has MANY flaws, there are 2 perfectly patched squares on the back. (see photos) and there is a not so great looking patched area on the lower right sleeve, some pinholes spread around, and some more patches on the upper left sleeve where a patch probably was. The item's color in this listing should only be used as a guide, as your monitor may show the colors differently.
Please note that any "SMUDGE" seen on the top or side of photos is from my camera lens. Vintage items are not perfect.
