Original early / mid 60s OG 107 Shirt / Jacket and Pants set along with deadstock BATA canvas jungle boots and black front zip USAF leather combat boots.. (footlocker NFS) belonging to a USAF Vet of the 34th Tactical Group who served during the early part of the Vietnam War.Was found with his original TadPole Pattern Tiger Stripe Jacket and Pants set, also NFS. And i'm trying to confirm if he was also part of the 1st Air Commando Squadron as his OG 107 shirt with usual shortened sleeves and 34th TG patch (Vietnamese made) are in alignment with the photos of others found in Yankee Air Pirates book. A bit of background on the 34th. The 34th Tactical Group was an early AF unit in Vietnam based at Bien Hoa AB near Saigon.. Tasks included training Republic of Vietnam Air Force (RVNAF) personnel in counter-insurgency operations.. They flew a variety of combat missions.. Forward air control and tactical liaison.. The group pioneered tactical weapons and munitions such as the A-1 Skyraider, the mini gun.. The daisy cutter, and the gunship.. Aircrews of the 1st Air Commando Squadron (Special Ops) performed the first combat tests of the FC-47gunship beginning December 1964. Until it was replaced the by 6251st Tactical Fighter Wing.. The 34th TG controlled the 1st Air Commando Squadron (Special Ops) and the 602nd Fighter Squadron...
The 8th and 13th Tactical Bomber Squadron (flying B-57 jet bombers) and the 19th Tactical Air Squadron.. The unit was designated as the 34th for only a short period of time from July 8 1963 to July 1965. Unworn with size 8 tag on back attached right.. Ink marked on inside - 8. Any soiling or what not due to storage as I have pulled this all out of the footlockers which were stored in an attic since the mid 60s.Right boot shows missing vent screen in two eyelet holes on side of boots. 11.75 heel to toe. 4.5 widest part of sole.
Front zip black leather cap toe with original laces. Shows scuffs and creases and soiling. Metal zipper on right is busted.. So fix it or just adjust the lacing system. Marked size 8.5 R.
